Rock On
Welcome to my blog. I had the idea of starting a blog since a long time, but didn't know what to write about. But finally I have made up my mind to kick off the blog with a review of the recently released Bollywood movie Rock On, which is making waves as well as a lot of money at the box office.
Rock On is truly rocking movie-goers across the country right now and it deserves all the praise and appreciation that it is generating. After experiencing it myself, I can assure you that Rock On is going to be a landmark in the ever so long journey of Hindi cinema. To be frank, I expected to see a lot of wildness and break-all-the-rules attitude, as anyone who has watched the promos would, and I don't say that the movie lets you down on that, but what takes you by a pleasant surprise is the amazing grip of the story as it shifts gears smoothly from the wild-rock-band attitude to the much more real, mature and relate-able for the general audience carry-on-with-life-as-it-is attitude.
It won't be an exaggeration to say that the credit for the grand success of Rock On goes to Farhan Akhtar. He is the co-producer, plays Aditya Shroff, the lead singer of Magik (the rock band around which the story revolves) as well as the playback singer of almost all the songs of the movie. With this movie, Farhan proves to everyone that he is as good an actor and a singer as he is a director, if not better. Arjun Rampal delivers an inspiring performance as Joe Mascarenhas, the lead guitarist of Magik with lots of attitude. Prachi Desai, as Sakshi looks fresh and graceful and has a soothing effect on the storeyline. Luke Kenny, plays Rob, the keyboard player of the band and plays it well. Rob, is the one who (more than others) wants Magik to perform on stage again after a long gap as a reunion after the band broke up. Purab Kohli, plays Kedar Zhaveri a.k.a. K.D. a.k.a. Killer Drummer is the cheerful and always smiling fourth band member and the drummer of the band. Shahana Goswami as Debbie, Joe's wife - who has compromised with the circumstances - does justice to her character.
Rock On is a story of reconciliation and re-union. It delivers a message by reminding us that its never too late to heal the emotional wounds caused by cut off strings of past relationships, we just need to hold the broken strings and tie a knot. A must watch for everyone. My rating : 4.5/5
